- Who are the people Ishaan is closest to? Who does he wish he was closest to?
I think Ishaan is a little bit of a mommy’s boy. While he adores his mother but I think he is closest to his brother Nakul. Ishaan wishes he were closer to his father, who seems reluctant to believe his son can really make his wine company globally successful.
- What is Ishaan’s relationship with his family members?
While Nakul and Ishaan do have a little bit of sibling rivalry- Ishaan has always been the younger and more casual person, Nakul has always come through for him even supporting this venture whole heartedly.
- Does Ishaan have any enemies? Who are they?
I think his biggest nemesis is his uncle, who always thought he would be the one holding the reins of businesses Nakul wasn’t interested in. Instead, Ishaan has done much better than he imagined and has begun to compete in the board room. Not in the plan at all!
- What are Ishaan’s biggest achievements and failures?
Having never tried anything big, Ishaan never really failed at anything so perhaps his biggest failure was that at the age of twenty he had achieved precisely nothing but a playboy reputation. This was why he began Sunaiya, his wine company; he finally felt he understood something. While he intially began Sunaiya with the belief that the business would be glamourous, he soon realised he had a genuine passion for it.
- How would you describe Ishaan’s relationship with Ayra?
Their relationship started off rather nicely; there seemd to be an instant connection that was only soured by context and circumstance. I don’t want to give too much away, but I do believe that without the added baggage of what she and what he did, they would have been great friends.
- What is Ishaan’s biggest fear?
That he won’t live upto his fathers expectations and spiders. He hates spiders.
- What is Ishaan’s biggest dream?
To make Sunaiya and global brand that is well respected.
- Does he have another side to him, other than being a bad boy millionaire?
You’ll just have to wait and see J But I do believe Ishaan will surprise you with his vulnerabilitye even though it is always hidden behind a veil of sarcasm and
- Does Ishaan have any secret?
Just a few that he’d rather keep close to his chest.
- What makes Ishaan laugh out loud? What makes him happy?
Wine makes him happy and his family. He likes the good life and doesn’t apologise for it. He loves Calvin & Hobbes.
- Does Ishaan easily get angry? Where does he like to go when he is angry?
Ishaan doesn’t have a temper, he has a cool head which is what annoys his father. He likes working out when he’s angry.
- Is Ishaan’s character based on someone you know or is he completely a fictional character? From where did you get inspiration for Ishaan’s character?
As much as my husband would like to think it, Ishaan wasn’t based on him J Apart from the fact that both of them like their briefcases. With Ishaan I tried to play with every woman’s fantasy, the M&B’s all of us have grown up with. They always had aquiline noses and dark hair. Ishaan came from Ayra. I think in a sense he was everything she thought she wanted at the time- glamour, extreme good looks and charisma. But essentially it was the ambition that was lacking. In that respect we could even say Kartik inspired Ishaan. It’s interest to note, however, how the two characters begin to overlap towards the end. Whom do you prefer?
About the Book:
Ayra always wanted to be an Art Historian. She saw herself flitting between galleries, talking Michelangelo and Dali with glamorous ease. At twenty–nine, life has decided to make her an underpaid investment banker juggling an eccentric family, a fading career and a long–distance relationship that is becoming a light-year one. On a monsoon day in June, she is suddenly sent packing from Mumbai to Tuscany to buy a vineyard for a star client. What should have been a four day trip turns into a two week treasure hunt that finds her in the middle of midnight wine deals, dodgy vintners, rolling Tuscan hills, a soap opera family and one playboy millionaire who is looking to taste more than just the wine. Towards the end she finds that the road to true happiness is almost as elusive as that perfect glass of Chianti.
