The Story: It is a story of Trisha, a simple, down to earth girl from the city of Nawabs, Lucknow. She has been brought up by her highly educated parents in an environment where she is free to speak up her mind without any inhibitions. She has had the best education and is an independent girl who can easily take care of herself. She loves her parents the most and wants to make them proud of her.
But life takes lots of twists and turns when she moves to JNU, Delhi to complete her education. She comes across this utterly deliciously handsome guy, Vedant who gets dimples when he smiles. Vedant is not just handsome but is also intelligent and is highly knowledgeable about literature and poems. To express his feelings to Trisha, he recites poems to her. Trisha is profoundly attracted to him and is soon falling deeply in love with him.
But then there is a glitch; Vedant is the only son of high ranked politician family of Maharashtra and has to follow his legacy by joining the politics. Trisha’s family dislikes politicians and Vedant’s father feels that women should stay at home and look after their husbands.
Things don’t go well for too long between Trisha and Vedant and their love soon fades away and Trisha is left all alone by herself in Delhi with Vedant moving back to his roots, Mumbai.
Trisha gives up on love and goes into her shell and decides not to fall in love again. But her decision to not to fall in love is forgotten soon enough when she meets Abhimanyu, the rising Tennis star. She fails to resist his charms for long and finds herself drawn to him.
She is confused that whether Abhimanyu is the right guy for her and during this amid confusion, fate brings Vedant back to her life. As if she was not confused enough, Vedant declares that he wants to get back with her.
Now, Trisha has to decide between Abhimanyu and Vedant. Will she be able to choose anyone of them or will she let both of them go and move forward with her life? After all, it’s not an easy decision to choose between your first love and the present love.
Review: I loved this book very much. It was a very refreshing and enjoyable experience. I know that I shouldn’t be comparing but when I was reading about Vedant and Trisha, I couldn’t help myself from comparing these two with Abhay Deol and Sonam Kapoor from the movie Ranjhana. There were too many similarities between these two couple.
Keeping aside the movie part, reading this book was like breathing the fresh air and watching the rainbow. Yes, that’s how much I enjoyed the book. Each and every word of the book was so well written that I couldn’t keep the book down even for a second.
The way Vedant whispers beautiful poems in Trisha’s ears actually gave me Goosebumps.
Trisha’s confusion about the two ruggedly handsome guys in her life is so well described that you can actually feel it and you yourself start experiencing the same confusion and tries to decide that which guy she should actually choose.
There is a part in the book, when Abhimanyu, Trisha and Leander are sitting in American Diner and Trisha gets jealous of all the female attention that Abhimanyu is being showered on. Trisha gets irritated and ties her hair with the clip. At that point, Abhimanyu very swiftly opens her clip and keep it in his hand till the meal is over. I don’t know why but this is the part I liked the most in the book.
I would highly recommend this book to everyone. It’s a must read.
